Overview
Learner goals and capabilities

Bring on one or more criminal justice students from Capella University in the Undergraduate Honors Pathway to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.

Our students conduct high-impact research that contributes to the understanding of basic criminal justice principles and their application to individuals in organizational and community settings.

Please note that our applicants range from second year, third year, and fourth year learners; therefore, internship opportunities should consider these different levels of expertise.

Students are available for 40-50 hours of placement from July 12 to September 10. Students will start looking for their internship in March 2021 and are required to have their internship plan finalized by Friday, June 18, 2021.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

The deliverable will vary depending on the scope of the project. The student should complete a maximum of 40-50 hours with your organization.

Project Examples

Students can complete a substantial project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the internship, and gives the student a tangible goal.

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope in an appropriate fit for the internship. The timeline for this is March 1, 2021-June 11, 2021.

Be available as a contact for the student at the internship to provide company-specific direction.
