In order to grow the research enterprise of MacEwan University, it is important to build an ecosystem that supports the development of research programs through research grant funding. A major challenge is to connect researchers with appropriate funding opportunities and build synergy with collaborators. Currently there is no central database for researcher interests and expertise and this information is drawn from several sources including professional websites, social media, and the MacEwan expert guide on an ad hoc basis. The goal for this project is to review the research landscape from various sources including those listed here and capture the information in a searchable database.

Deliverables
  1. Determine which criteria will be included in the database
  2. Create a scaffold for the database (this could be as simple as an excel spreadsheet)
  3. Determine sources of information
  4. Search the sources and populate the database
Mentorship
  1. Students will be provided with mentoring and advice on criteria
  2. Students will be provided with ideas about where to look for information
  3. Students will be provided with a list of current faculty

As well as providing information on funding opportunities, we host workshops, ensure ethical standards are met, provide print and digital resources for managing projects and answer your questions about scholarship at MacEwan. We support the work of the General Faculty Council's Standing Committee on Scholarly Activity.
