This project will see a student take a lead role in an art collections management project. Over 8 weeks, the student will complete an inventory of the art collection and update its records accordingly. They will receive training in artwork condition reporting and data management, and have the opportunity to apply those skills in undertaking these reporting and management tasks for the art collection.

Deliverables
  • Receive training on condition reporting
  • Receive training on art collection records management
  • Receive training on art handling basics
  • Identify artworks installed across campus
  • Assess condition of each artwork
  • Update records of each artwork according to its location and condition
  • Update any missing details in each artwork record


  • Assisting with the safe transportation of collections artwork into storage (training will be provided regarding art handling and packing)
  • Locating and digitizing documents in the collection files
  • Inventory and organizing Mitchell Art Gallery storage



Mentorship
  • Training on condition reporting, records management, and art handling
  • Invited to participate in MAG team check-in meetings weekly during 8-week period
