We are building the next generation of decentralized social applications on the Farcaster protocol, focusing on innovative mini-apps that leverage open social graph data. To expand our development capabilities and create reusable infrastructure for the Farcaster ecosystem, we are seeking talented students to contribute to real-world Web3 applications that will be used by thousands of users.
This role offers students the opportunity to work on production-level applications while contributing to open-source tools that will accelerate future development in the Farcaster ecosystem.
To support our Farcaster development initiatives, we are looking for students to contribute to the following:
- Design and develop mini-apps that operate within Farcaster's constrained UI environment (mobile-first, iframe-based applications)
- Implement Farcaster Quick Auth systems with token-based authentication flows
- Analyze social graph data to identify user patterns, engagement metrics, and create novel social experiences
- Build reusable templates and libraries for authentication, UI components, and data visualization
- Contribute to an automated backend using serverless functions and Base blockchain integration
- Create alternative feed algorithms and experimental social mechanics using Farcaster's open protocol data
- Assist in developing comprehensive documentation and deployment guides for the broader developer community
This role may be split among 2-4 students depending on skill sets and project complexity.
Intermediate Deliverables:
- Functional prototype with Farcaster Quick Auth implementation
- Initial UI components following mini-app constraints
- Project documentation and architecture diagram
- User testing feedback from Farcaster community
Final Deliverables:
- Production-ready mini-app deployed on Farcaster
- Complete source code with comprehensive documentation
- Reusable template/library components (open-source)
- Analytics dashboard showing user engagement metrics
- 15-minute presentation demonstrating the application and its impact
- Written report detailing technical architecture, design decisions, and future roadmap
Students completing this project will:
- Deploy at least one functional application to the Farcaster ecosystem
- Contribute meaningful open-source tools or templates
- Gain practical experience with Web3 technologies and decentralized protocols
- Build a portfolio piece with real users and measurable impact
- Establish themselves in the Farcaster developer community
- Have the opportunity to continue development with creator reward incentives
