OVERVIEW:

The purpose of this project is to conduct discovery research with internal stakeholders and existing customers for a Client who is developing a new product - ultimately presenting findings and next step recommendations.


The research will help the company understand the needs, preferences, behaviors and pain points of their customers and potential customers. The outcome of the research will be a findings report, with a prioritized list of recommendations, affinity map, and empathy map.




Deliverables

GOAL:

Conducting user research, presenting findings and deliverables

  • User research- Have an initial understanding of our target customer through 1:1 interviews, resulting in deliverables defined below.


  1. To understand the problem to solve.
  2. To understand the needs, preferences, behaviors, painpoints of these customer groups
  3. To provide customer insights to improve or inform the company's products or services based on the research findings



SCOPE:

The scope of this project includes:

  1. Read & understand current research plan
  2. Work with stakeholders to schedule time for interviews
  3. Attend and observe research sessions (minimum of 5)
  4. Take notes during each session
  5. Document findings and report recommendations
  6. Work with team to create an affinity map, empathy map, proto-persona  


DELIVERABLES:

The project will deliver the following:

  1. Help researcher with presentation of Recommendations/Findings
  2. Affinity map
  3. Empathy map
  4. Proto-persona



MILESTONES:

The project will be completed within 4 week, with the following milestones:

By WEEK:

  1. Week 1 Familiarize yourself with the research plan (1-pager), and interview script & Work with stakeholders to schedule time for interviews
  2. Week 2 Confirm participants, take notes for 5 interviews, document findings, begin affinity mapping and empathy map, proto-persona  
  3. Week 3 Continue interviews & document findings, continue affinity map, empathy map, and proto-persona.
  4. Week 4 Wrap up deliverables and present findings and recommendations. Final Farewell!



Mentorship

Preferred Timezones: CST/EST/MTN. Open to any location who is willing to accommodate the preferred timezones.


Available to meet once per week to provide virtual in-person guidance, help and feedback along the way. Available 4x per week for email correspondences.

Students will come out of this project with real-world case study in usability testing with a real client.


I will attend and help with interviews and facilitate the user interviews of key executive stakeholders.
