OVERVIEW:

The purpose of this project is to conduct usability research with internal stakeholders and existing customers for a Client who is developing a new product - ultimately presenting findings and next step recommendations.


The research will help the company understand the needs, preferences, and behaviors of their customers and potential customers. The outcome of the research will be a findings report, with a prioritized list of recommendations.


Additionally, 2 wireframe samples will potentially be created based on user interviews.



Deliverables

GOAL:

Conducting Usability Testing and Presenting Findings

  • User research- research plans, screener surveys, user interviews
  • Usability testing- summary of key findings and recommendations, or documentation of testing sessions to understand users’ experience of and interaction with your product


  1. To understand the problem to solve.
  2. To understand the needs, preferences, and behaviors of these customer groups
  3. To surface usability errors within the system and prototypes
  4. To provide customer insights improving the company's products or services based on the research findings



SCOPE:

The scope of this project includes:

  1. Work with product owner to identify no more than 2 areas to test
  2. Create a research plan (1-pager)
  3. Work with stakeholders to schedule time on your behalf for interviews
  4. Create an interview script
  5. Perform 5 interviews for each area
  6. Document findings and report recommendations
  7. Providing recommendations: The project will provide recommendations for improving the company's products or services based on the research findings.


DELIVERABLES:

The project will deliver the following:

  1. Interview Script
  2. Presentation of Recommendations/Findings



MILESTONES:

By WEEK:

  1. Week 1 Create a research plan (1-pager) & Work with stakeholders to schedule time on your behalf for interviews
  2. Week 2 Create an interview script & Perform 5 interviews for each area & 
  3. Week 3 Continue interviews & document findings and report recommendations
  4. Week 4 Present findings and recommendations & wrap up project



Mentorship

Preferred Timezones: CST/EST/MTN. Open to any location who is willing to accommodate the preferred timezones.


Available to meet once per week to provide virtual in-person guidance, help and feedback along the way. Available 4x per week for email correspondences.

Students will come out of this project with real-world case study in usability testing with a real client.


I will attend and help with interviews and facilitate the user interviews of key executive stakeholders.
