Legal Research and Writing Project

Number of individual students required: 3 Migrant Workers Centre often encounters novel issues pertaining to immigration and employment law. To tackle these issues, we rely on creative legal research and policy interpretation to make the best possible arguments for our clients. We are seeking law students from Canadian law schools to do research/writing assistance for a number of upcoming cases to help determine and develop our strategies. We would also like to work with students to develop a portfolio of cases/policy interpretation for issues we see more frequently. Time permitting, we would also seek assistance in developing this research into argument. To Apply: Please provide your resume and an explanation for why you want to volunteer with the Migrant Workers Centre. If you have taken relevant legal courses such as Immigration, Employment, and/or Administrative law, please indicate.

We are particularly interested in: How cases with shared facts to ones we are working on have been interpreted in past administrative and court cases locally and/or regionally. How government policies may affect these interpretations. Various arguments and their effectiveness. Any strategic insights.
