Other resources will be provided as required. 2) Competitor and Market Assessment - Scan the market to shortlist leading competitors and perform an in-depth analysis of their marketing strategies, including brand positioning, key messages, advertising focus, appeals, social media presence, affiliate/influencer support, etc. ; If applicable, research beyond direct retail competitors to identify brand messages and appeals used by leading product manufacturers that may help to identify and validate winning strategies. 3) Assessment of Consumer Interest - For the major Customer Personas, identify interest, conversion drivers and appeals that most influence purchasing decisions and brand affinity: Retirees – Empty nesters who are still active, enjoying nature and travel; includes snowbirds who head south during the coldest months of the year. Accounting Internship - CFO-like Experience in a Cash-Flow-Positive Startup
Positions Available: 1 Background Werrv ( https://werrv.ca/ ) is a start-up, incorporated in January 2021, with quarterly HST filings and a first fiscal year-end of of December 31, 2021. We have come a long way in 9 months, signing suppliers, creating an on-line store, offering a targeted set of products in the recreationally vehicle industry, attracting over 25,000 visitors to date and selling in the $10's of thousands of dollars in the past few months. We have ambitious plans, which can only be shared with successful finalists under an NDA, for obvious reasons. We sell on-line using Shopify (the world leader in on-line sales platforms at over 5% of the internet). Our accounting system is Quickbooks (Multi-currency) on-line (the most common accounting system for growing businesses). We have commercial contracts in place with some of North America's largest manufacturers, distributors, shippers and suppliers, so naturally, we have a lot of transactions. More than 95% of our transactions are automated under processing rules, but we still have 5% that need some TLC. Our books are in good shape, but, they need a solid review, we have quarterly sales taxes to file, and we are growing our business in the USA. This internship provides a unique opportunity to work with the founder, experience entrepreneurship from the front seat, gain a "whole company" view of an organization from Shareholder Accounting to supplier agreements compliance, to best-practice automation of routine transactions and, when that is all humming even better, the chance to be part of a very exciting new growth opportunity. Administrative Excellence Internship (Marketing)
Positions Available: 1-4 Students, individually or as a team Project Scope (Can be Adjusted Based on Individual Learning Objectives) 1) On-Boarding - Participate in initial presentation to gain familiarity with the context (company strategy and goals, competitive landscape, industry trends). Review initial assignment and ask questions to ensure objectives are well understood. 3) Marketing Improvement Plan - Werrv is an authorized dealer for over 200 product brands, but, we have not consistently registered our dealership alliances with all of our suppliers. Interns will be given a list of key manufacturers and will execute an outreach program to have Werrv added as a registered dealer on manufacturer's websites and internal dealer lists. In most cases, this can be achieved by researching the manufacturer's website, determining if Werrv is already listed in the Dealer directory, if Werrv isn't listed or the listing needs updating, then finding the Contact e-mail and e-mailing the manufacturer with listing information. The intern will be welcome to try different messages, trying phone call in place of e-mail if they prefer, or using other techniques to persuade manufacturers to complete the addition in a timely manner. (Key Business Skills Learned: Project Management, Organization and Tracking of Status/Results, Influence and Persuasion, as required to make it a priority, Business judgement and inquiry (if a Manufacturer requires additional information), Teamwork and process improvement through innovating the workflow. Having fun at work, Handover/opalization (at the end of the project, turn over a spreadsheet of results, including registrations completed, pending or that may require a follow-up). This project will involve Programming in Python, Accessing APIs from Data Tools like https://dataforseo.com/ and performing data analytics. 1) SEO Analytics - Werrv has an existing SEO Improvement Plan for both Domain Authority and Page Authority which will be shared with Interns. Over the duration of the internship Interns will be involved in executing SEO improvements and assessing results through https://search.google.com/search-console/about and industry leading SEO tools. 4) Social Media – Assess traffic patterns related to similar brands and topics of interest from social media platforms (refer to separate Social Media Strategy document and identify the best opportunities to engage our target audiences. Expand Market Through Spanish, Portuguese and Italian Websites
Positions Available: 1-3 Student We are looking to work with a creative and ambitious student who is fluently bilingual/trilingual with excellent Spanish and Italian language writing skills and solid English language skills to oversee and quality check a project that extends our services at Werrv ( https://werrv.com/ ) to Spanish and Italian and, possibly Portuguese. We already have our website in English and French ( https://werrv.ca/fr ). Our goal is to serve a broader international audience lives at reasonable prices. Relax, the job is not as daunting as you might think, because of our technology solutions, but, it can be very fun and a great learning opportunity.. Project Scope 1) Research - Gain familiarity with the context (company goals, competitive landscape, industry trends) and identify potential translation challenges, if applicable, such as Brand name conventions in key markets. 2) Assessment – Assess optimization around language variants - Spanish, versus Mexican Spanish versus Caribbean Spanish, etc. and recommend which translator to use and implement it in a test store to do quality assurance testing of a sample of translations. Identify and document residual gaps/weaknesses for business risk/impact assessment. 3) Implementation – Subject to satisfactory QA results in test, validation implement the automated translations in the store and oversee the automated translation of all products. Most work will be completed automatically using our existing technology solutions. A primary focus is on final QA sampling of results to ensure overall quality is maintained. Once the store is translated, some additional translation will be required for marketing e-mails and then you will be able to admire your work in action as we take the site live for customers. 4) Bonus - Social Media – Time permitting, implement a French instance of Facebook and Instagram to be maintained on an ongoing basis by the company. Integrate and Transform Supply Chain Data Automatically Phase 2
We are looking to work with a creative and ambitious student or group of students to automate the extract, transform and load (ETL) of our supply chain data from multiple sources. At completion, the result will be automatic ETL of data from our distributors, including inventory and product updates and feeding cleaned data into the backend of our Shopify store. Ideally, the process can be automated so that it runs several times a day automatically. If time permits, merging data with manufacturers data sources will also be done. The work is continuing the work completed in Phase 1. Project Scope 1) Data Mapping – recommended data mapping has already been documented but should be confirmed based on first hand assessment. 2) Development - Using Power Query or suitable mutually agreed alternative, create a robust and supportable ETL program that transforms data and merge it from multiple sources into normalized, high valued information ready for loading into the store. 3) Bonus - The student will be given the opportunity to work with Shopify’s GraphQL API to load the data into the store backend. We are looking to work with creative and ambitious students who would like real-world experience at prospecting clients, conveying a conveying value proposition and A/B testing messaging to improve sales conversion. Werrv is launching an affiliate marketing program, soliciting win-win partnerships with businesses that sell complementary services to our key client demographic. Our goal is to serve all Canadians from coast to coast with products that enhance their lives at reasonable prices. Project Scope 1) Research - Gain familiarity with the context (company goals, competitive landscape, industry trends) using research provided by Werrv and augmenting it with additional research. 2) Ideation – Brainstorming and testing go-to-market messages in real time with on-line survey and A/B test messaging to real prospects through e-mail campaigns and Linked -In. Interested prospects will be guided through an automated workflow to a secure partner portal register as affiliate markets so no direct client contact is required. 3) Prospect Matching – Based on the assessment result, the students will review a list of prospective businesses partners gathered from Scotts Directory, industry contact lists and other sources to target the program. Realtime results can be monitored to confirm that mail campaigns are getting satisfactory conversion and onboarding. 4) Final Report – a brief final (less than 5 pages) report should be provided, summarizing key findings and recommending next steps in enhancing the sales process. Level Up - Expand Market Through French Website
Positions Available: 1 Student We are looking to work with a creative and ambitious student who is fluently bilingual with excellent French language writing skills and at least reasonable English language skills to manage a project that extends our services to French speaking Canadians. Our goal is to serve all Canadians from coast to coast with products that enhance their lives at reasonable prices. Project Scope 1) Research - Gain familiarity with the context (company goals, competitive landscape, industry trends). 2) Assessment – Assess Shopify Apps for automated language translation, including, but not limited to, leading contenders like https://apps.shopify.com/content-translation and https://apps.shopify.com/translate-my-store . Recommend which translator to use and implement it in a test store to do quality assurance testing of a sample of translations. Identify and document residual gaps/weaknesses for business risk/impact assessment. 3) Implementation – Subject to satisfactory QA results in test, implement the automated translation software in the store and oversee the automated translation of all products. Most work will be completed automatically, requiring a final sampling of results to ensure QA is maintained. 4) Bonus - Social Media – Time permitting, implement a French instance of Facebook and Instagram to be maintained on an ongoing basis by the company. Build a WordPress Secure Client Portal
Positions Available: 1 Student We are looking to work with a creative and ambitious student who has extensive experience with WordPress and wants to try something new. WordPress is an amazing front facing website development environment, but what we want is a Secure Client Portal ( https://wpbuffs.com/wordpress-client-portal-plugins/ ) for our business partners to engage with us in a private way. Uses of the private portal include setting up promotions, exchanging files, displaying private dashboards, accessing content not intended for public presentation, running online training programs and many more secure and private uses. Project Scope 1) Context & Goal Setting – The project is to develop a secure Business-to-Business Client Portal in WordPress to perform a range of functions like those noted above. Specifics are considered business secrets and will be provided at commencement of the project, together with some brainstorming and goal setting. You will play an instrumental role in bringing your WordPress experience to the table and helping to choose the best path forward. 2) Development – set up sandbox, staging and production WordPress environments at the appropriate times. Play in the sandbox to test tool and plug-ins and finalize the optimal configuration to achieve the business goals agreed in step 1. Build a staging environment and work to QA the system with user feedback. Integrate and Transform Supply Chain Data Automatically
Positions Available: 2 Students We are looking to work with a creative and ambitious student or group of students to automate the extract, transform and load (ETL) of our supply chain data from multiple sources. At completion, the result will be automatic ETL of data from our distributors, including inventory and product updates and feeding cleaned data into the backend of our Shopify store. Ideally, the process can be automated so that it runs several times a day automatically. If time permits, merging data with manufacturers data sources will also be done. Project Scope 1) Context Setting - Gain familiarity with the information technology ecosystem of Werrv’s supply chain, specifically including the dataflows from distributors and manufacturers and Werrv’s storefront on Shopify. 2) Data Mapping – recommended data mapping has already been documented but should be confirmed based on first hand assessment. 3) Development - Using Power Query or suitable mutually agreed alternative, create a robust and supportable ETL program that transforms data and merge it from multiple sources into normalized, high valued information ready for loading into the store. 4) Bonus - If time permits, the student will be given the opportunity to work with Shopify’s GraphQL API to load the data into the store backend. Communications - Engaging Content Creation and Curation
We are looking to work with creative and ambitious students to create relevant, engaging blog and social media content related to our core business of selling parts and accessories to Recreational Vehicle (RV) and Boat owners. Content may be in the form of Blog Posts, short form social media posts and Infographics. Tools will be funded as required to support creation of unique content. Students may also be able to develop advertising messages and A/B test the results of various ads in real time during the project. Project Scope 1) Research & Initial Strategic Hypothesis - Gain familiarity with the context for a half day (company goals, competitive landscape, industry trends) and the current state and topical issues of content 2) Prioritize – identify a list of topics to develop content around, prioritizing topics of most interest/level of engagement, ease of curation/creation from reliable sources, and relevance to target customer personas. Positions Available: 2-3 Students Project Scope 1) Research - Gain familiarity with the context (company goals, competitive landscape, industry trends) 2) Assessment – using SEO tools, current best practices with Google’s latest changes, and assessment of Werrv;’s current website, provide an assessment of strengths and weaknesses of current techniques and recommend most valuable path to improvement to achieve both improved search results and customer satisfaction. 3) SEO Improvement Plan - Over the duration of the project, starting from assessment and working through experimentation, implementation, validation, provide a written plan, including recommended tools to use techniques to targets cost effectively. 4) Social Media – Assess which are the best social media platforms, beyond Facebook to engage our target audiences with prioritization around the best value for effort for Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Linked In, Pinterest, TikTok and possibly others.
