Consumer Behavior is a 3rd year undergraduate marketing course at the University of Alberta's School of Business, one of the top 5 business schools in Canada. Experience Ventures - Interdisciplinary (InterD) Team Projects
Incubators create teams of students from more than one discipline and provide them with a project for a venture, or group of ventures. We are accepting applications for InterD Team Projects now. Upon successful completion of an Interdisciplinary (InterD) Team Project, student participants receive a stipend valued at $825.
Experience Ventures - Students in Residence
Students selected by the incubator receive unique opportunities to work with several companies, at least partially at the employer site over the course of a term. Upon successful completion of an Experience Ventures Student in Residence placement, participants receive a stipend valued at $825.
Experience Ventures - Projects
Companies present students with a specific project, and the Student Innovation Centre will facilitate the matching of talent from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds. Upon successful completion of an Experience Ventures Project, student participants receive a stipend valued at $825.
Experience Ventures - Challenges
Taking place over several weeks, these require students to build out more complete solutions to social, business, design, or community challenges posed by the Student Innovation Centre, oftentimes in partnership with companies. Upon successful completion of an Experience Ventures Challenge, student participants receive a stipend valued at $525.

Experience Ventures - Hackathons
A one- to two-day event in which companies present students with real-world challenges and ask them to create and present innovative solutions, either individually or in teams. Typically, hackathons culminate in a pitch competition where companies and other stakeholders act as judges, providing feedback and ranking the best solutions. Upon successful completion of an Experience Ventures Hackathon, student participants receive a stipend valued at $325, paid in part by Canada's Work Integrated Learning Initiative.

Capstone projects use students' competencies developed throughout the MBA program to solve real-world business problems supplied by a variety of organizations in the student's final term. Capstone projects are experiential learning that mutually benefit students and organizations. Projects are required to be strategic in nature, and should span across multiple functional areas (strategy, finance, operations, marketing, human relations, entrepreneurship, innovation etc.). Projects are completed in a 3-month time frame and are sufficient in scope to provide an average of 10hrs/week commitment from a 3-5 person student team. Proposals are selected by the students and once finalized, student teams manage the project and communications with oversight from the professor. Some proposals may not match and if this is the case, we will contact you for other opportunities or the possibility of participating in a different term.

Professional Practicum Program
Students completing their Bachelor of Kinesiology, Bachelor of Science Kinesiology, or Bachelor of Arts, Recreation, Sport, and Tourism are all required to complete a practicum course. Our programs offer a variety of majors or specializations ranging from health promotion to adapted physical activity, to sports administration, recreation administration, and sports management. Students complete their practicum course near the end of their degree and will begin their placement with a very strong background knowledge within their area. Students in full time placement will work 30-35 hours per week over 13 working weeks in either paid or unpaid practicum placements.

Consumer Behavior

Consumer Behavior is a 3rd year undergraduate marketing course. Student teams will work on an applied consumer behavior project, guided by your organization's goals. You will work with one course section, which will have 5-7 student teams. This means you will receive multiple final reports. Interactions will take place at the section level: you will meet with all teams simultaneously for 2 introductory sessions (Jan 26, Feb 14) and 2 final presentation sessions (Apr 6, 8). Projects can be completed and delivered remotely or in person. Students have taken an introductory course in marketing. This course focuses on the psychological factors influencing consumers, and how those factors are used by marketers. Topics include: Attention and Perception Needs and Motivation Decision Making Persuasion Social Influence Choice Architecture Word-of-Mouth Projects involving any (or all) of these topics are welcome. Projects can involve secondary research, but NOT primary research (i.e., interviews).
