New Product/Service Development

Number of individual students required: Up to 2 HPCO is developing a Centre for Excellence (the Centre) with a goal of fostering excellence in hospice palliative care in Ontario. The Centre will house our existing programs and services for our members including: the hospice standards program; hospice accreditation; best practice guides; a quality & impact measurement platform; interest groups; and learning and training programs for hospice staff and volunteers. Additionally, we will explore opportunities to develop new programs and services for our individual and organizational members and to market our programs and services outside of Ontario. We are looking for students to join our team to take on projects related to the development of new programs and services. Projects can include (projects will be scaled to 80 hours of work): Developing an intake and assessment process to support decision making for new programs and services/developing templates to support the process Contributing to a feasibility study of a new programs or service opportunities New business development and innovation activities, including activities related to product or service design and marketing Researching and developing marketing plans for existing programs or services (including defining the target market and market segments, examining market trends and competitors, gathering customer feedback via surveys, interviews, or focus groups and analyze findings, recommending pricing strategies etc.) Position Qualifications: Graduate level training in business, health administration or similar Interest in health care, knowledge of hospice palliative care is an asset Project management training or experience Strong qualitative and quantitative analytic and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Ability to work with cross functional teams and all management levels Highly motivated and takes initiative, while holding oneself accountable Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills Excellent organizational, time management and office management skills

Grief and Bereavement Indicators Development Project

The main goal for the project is to support the development of new grief and bereavement indicators to add to the hospice quality measurement platform for Hospice Palliative Care Ontario. This will involve several different steps for the project team, including: - Researching existing grief and bereavement indicators used in hospice care. - Collaborating with healthcare professionals and bereavement experts to understand the specific needs and challenges in Ontario. - Developing new indicators that are sensitive to the cultural and social diversity of the population in Ontario. - Testing and validating the new indicators to ensure their effectiveness in measuring the quality of hospice care in relation to grief and bereavement support.
